LIGHT INSTALLATION

I have already experimented with coloured shards and light and I really like how the shadows come out. However my previous work was very stationary and less thought had gone into how I arranged the shards.
So to improve on this, I built a machine that rotates a rig, therefore I could now add shards around in a circle and by placing a light source in the middle, have a ever changing display of shadows on the wall. This is exactly what I wanted as I wanted to introduce the dimension of time.
Alongside adding movement, I used my knowledge of colour theory to control the atmosphere. As these colours were being projected to a whole wall, by changing from cold to warm colours I could influence the atmosphere of the whole room for a short while until the blues turned to reds.

As you can see, particularly well in the above video, I constructed the shard layout so that as the rig rotates it goes from reds, oranges and yellows (warm colours) to blues, greens and purples (cold colours). From my previous research I know that these different colours have different effects.
I really like how this piece really controls the room in comparison to my much smaller, previous experiments. Although my style is now different from Knapp, the effect on the room of this piece is similar to Knapp's large installations.
